This artwork is a four-fold arrangement of the conventional playing card suits using a self-similar division of the square used by M.C. Escher in his 1956 work Smaller and Smaller.
Background and Inspiration
This work was originally done for use as cover art for the April 2015 issue of Mathematics Magazine. This is the second of 25 original artworks I created for the journal Mathematics Magazine during 2015–2019.
