As with the MAA logo, this artwork features the icosahedron.
Each face of the icosahedron was patterned with nine lines containing the text
The icosahedron was first projected onto the circumscribing sphere and then stereographically
projected onto the plane. The resulting transformation maps line segments into circular arcs.
Background and Inspiration
This work was originally done for use as cover art for the June 2015 issue of Mathematics Magazine. This is the third of 25 original artworks I created for the journal Mathematics Magazine during 2015–2019.
