This piece celebrates Franklin's 8 by 8 magic square as discussed in the paper by Nordgren found in this issue. The solid dot in the lower left corresponds to the 1 cell of the magic square and the cell without a dot is the 64 cell.
Background and Inspiration
This work was originally done for use as cover art for the February 2018 issue of Mathematics Magazine. This is the sixteenth of 25 original artworks I created for the journal Mathematics Magazine during 2015–2019.
