Binomial Pursuit (Artwork)
Binomial Pursuit Digital Print 2016

Influenced by several binomial items in this issue, the artwork depicts a Sierpinski triangle where a pursuit triangle is used on the interior triangles, and a simple black outlined triangle is used on the exterior triangles. The rotation of the pursuit reverses at each scaling at the lowest level.

Background and Inspiration

The June 2016 cover of Mathematics Magazine.

This work was originally done for use as cover art for the June 2016 issue of Mathematics Magazine. This is the eighth of 25 original artworks I created for the journal Mathematics Magazine during 2015–2019.

Inspired by two pieces in the issue: \medskip the article ``The Binomial Recurrence'' by Michael Z. Spivey and \medskip the {\it Proof Without Words} ``Sums of Reciprocals of Binomial Coefficients'' by Tom Edgar.
